INTRODUCTION

Department of International Relations under the Faculty of Business and Social Science (FBSS) started its journey in Bangladesh Military Academy (BMA), Chattogram for the Officer Cadets (OCs) and Young Officers (YOs). This undergraduate programme carries significant importance in the professional and personal lives of OCs and YOs. Military and academic training will contribute to creating more aware, dignified and responsible military officers for the future. This programme aims to provide sufficient academic training to conduct policy-oriented research in international relations, foreign policy, national and international security, strategic studies, diplomacy and the United Nations Peace-Keeping missions. To accomplish these objectives, the department is committed to providing a rigorous course of study that emphasizes the integration of theoretical, applied and engaged learning. Students leave the classroom with the knowledge and skills to critically assess contemporary political events and identify practical solutions to critical social problems. After completing the programme, students will gain critical thinking skills, problem-solving skills, academic writing skills and collaboration skills. Therefore, this academic programme aims to provide the OCs/YOs with the intellectual foundation for serving as well-educated commissioned officers who possess the knowledge and skills necessary for their continued professional development.
