Major General Khandaker Muhammad Shahidul Emran, ndc, afwc, psc, MPhil

BA-4267 Major General Khandaker Md Shahidul Emran, ndc, afwc, psc, MPhil was promoted to the present rank on 03 January 2024. At present he is serving as the Commandant of Bangladesh Military Academy. He was commissioned on 09 June 1992 with 26th BMA Long Course. He served in various Infantry units namely 32 East Bengal Regiment, 6 Bangladesh Infantry Regiment, 16 East Bengal Regiment and 29 Bangladesh Infantry Regiment (BIR). Apart from his regimental appointments, he served as Grade Staff   Officer-1 in Military Operations Directorate of Army Headquarters, Grade Staff Officer-1 (Operations and Training Management Division) and Institutional Training Evaluator of ARTDOC, Colonel Staff in Military Training Directorate, Deputy Military Secretary in the Military Secretariat Branch and Director Infantry in Infantry Directorate of Army Headquarters.  

General Emran served as Instructor and Platoon Commander at School of Infantry and Tactics, and Bangladesh Military Academy respectively. He commanded 29 Bangladesh Infantry Regiment as Commanding Officer and 69 Infantry Brigade as Brigade Commander. He served as Commandant & PAPA BIR at Bangladesh Infantry Regimental Center (BIRC).

General Emran participated in UN mission in Kuwait & Ivory Coast as contingent member and in Central African Republic (MINUSCA) as Sector Commander East.

 He is a graduate of Defense Services Command and Staff College (Mirpur), National Defense College (Mirpur) and National Defense University, USA. He obtained Master in Defense Studies from National University, Dhaka, Master of Arts in Strategic Security studies from National Defense University, USA and MPhil in Strategy and development studies from Bangladesh University of Professionals.

General Emran is happily married and proud father of three sons. His eldest son followed the footstep of his father and was commissioned into Bangladesh Army on 12 December 2021 as a Lieutenant.
