Major General Anwarul Momen, SBP, rcds, psc graduated from Bangladesh Military Academy in 1985. He was commissioned as Second Lieutenant in the Corps of Infantry of Bangladesh Army.

The General enjoys a vast experience of serving in all three dimensions in Bangladesh Army i.e. Command, Instructor and Staff. Most recently he commanded an Infantry Division. Prior to that, he commanded an Infantry Battalion and a Composite Brigade. He was also the Commandant of Bangladesh Ordnance Factory.

As an instructor, he served in Bangladesh Military Academy thrice. He was also a Directing Staff and Senior Instructor at Defence Services Command and Staff College, Mirpur, Bangladesh.

As staff, Major General Anwar served in two different infantry brigade headquarters as Grade 3 Staff (Intelligence) and Brigade Major. He was appointed as General Staff Officer-1 (Counter Insurgency) in an Infantry Division engaged in operation. He also served as Defense Adviser at Permanent Mission of Bangladesh to the United Nations and Military Secretary of Bangladesh Army.

In addition to these assignments, Major General Anwar actively participated in Operation Dabanol as Sub Zone Commander and Operation Uttaron as Zone Commander engaged in Counter Insurgency Operation and Task Force Commander of Operation Twilight.

He assumed duties as the Commandant of Bangladesh Military Academy in September 2018.

He participated in United Nations Peacekeeping Mission in Sierra Leone as Operations Officer of a contingent and Military Observer in Former Yugoslavia.

The General attended several professional courses both at home and abroad, notably, Army Staff Course in Bangladesh, Command and General Staff Course in Philippines; Comprehensive Security Responses to Terrorism at Asia Pacific Centre for Security Studies in Hawaii, USA and lastly graduated from Royal College of Defence Studies, United Kingdom. The officer also participated in a good number of seminars in abroad.
